Melbourne Wine School is proud to offer the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Spirits.

The WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits is intended to establish the basic skills and product knowledge required in the service and retail of spirits; it is ideal for preparing a person for their first job in hospitality or retail.
​
This course is also a great introductory first course for spirit enthusiasts who wish to study in a structured way. The qualification covers skills such as: identifying spirit styles, categories of spirits and service.

Course Overview:
The Level 1 Award in Spirits will teach you about the fundamentals of the world of spirits, covering topics such as:

The basic principles of spirit production

The main types and styles of spirits

How to serve spirits

Factors affecting the flavour of spirits

How to describe spirits using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits

Duration of course:
1 full day including the examination
​Assessment:
Students will sit a closed-book, multiple choice exam consisting of 30 questions.
This exam will be sat during the final session of the course.
Successful completion of the exam will lead to the internationally recognised WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits.
Entry Requirements:
You must be of legal drinking age (18) to participate in this course.
There are no other requirements for entry.
