Melbourne Wine School is proud to offer the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Award in Sake.

 

Join Melissa Mills, founder of Sake Connect and winner of the International Wine Challenge Award in Sake as she guides you through the world of sake.

No prior sake knowledge is required prior to starting this course, so it is suitable for people new to the sake category, as well as those wishing to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Sake.

Key information

​

Course Overview: The WSET Level 2 Award in Sake covers topics such as:

  • The basic principles of sake production

  • The main categories of sake and the influences of production methods on each different category.

  • ​The course will explore elements of sake service for a broad overview of the industry.

  • Factors affecting the flavour of sake

  • How to describe sake using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Sake® (SAT)

Course Duration:

Our WSET Level 2 courses are delivered in three different formats:

  • Weekly courses, held evenings from 6pm to 8.30pm over a 9-week period;

  • Intensive courses spread over 3 weekdays from 9:30am to 4pm;

  • Intensive courses held over 3 consecutive Saturdays from 9:30am to 4pm.

All WSET Level 2 courses consist of a minimum of 16 hours of tuition. Please note that an addition 12 hours of personal study and revision is recommended.

​

Assessment:

Students will sit a closed-book, multiple choice exam consisting of 50 questions. This exam will be sat during the final session of the course. Successful completion of the exam will lead to the internationally recognised WSET Level 2 Award in Sake.

 

Entry Requirements:

You must be of legal drinking age (18) to participate in this course. There are no other requirements for entry.
