Melbourne Wine School is proud to offer the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Sake.

 

Join Melissa Mills, founder of Sake Connect and winner of the International Wine Challenge Award in Sake 2017, as she guides you through a hands-on introduction to the world of sake. You will explore the main styles and types of sake through sight, smell and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting flavours and aromas.

For individuals new to sake, this qualification provides a beginner level introduction to sake, great for those starting a career in the industry or pursuing an interest in sake.

Course Overview: The WSET Level 1 Award in Sake covers topics such as:

  • The basic principles of sake production

  • The main types and styles of sake

  • How to serve sake Factors affecting the flavour of sake

  • How to describe sake using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Sake® (SAT)

​

Course Duration: The WSET Level 1 Award in Sake is a day-long course that runs from 9:00am - 5:00pm.

​

Assessment: Students will sit a closed-book, multiple choice exam consisting of 30 questions. This exam will be sat at the end of the day's course.

Successful completion of the exam will lead to the internationally recognised WSET Level 1 Award in Sake. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

​

Entry Requirements:

You must be of legal drinking age (18) to participate in this course. There are no other requirements for entry.

​

All classes are held at Inspire9 1/41-43 Stewart Street, Richmond VIC 3121
