WSET Level 3 Award in Sake

Melbourne Wine School is proud to offer the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 Award in Sake.
 

An advanced level Sake qualification for individuals working professionally with sake, or sake enthusiasts seeking to develop and expand their expertise in Sake.

 

This qualification that will provide you with a detailed understanding of the key ingredients and production methods that affect the style, quality and price of sake. Upon completion you will be able to assess sake accurately, and use this information and your understanding of sakes to make authoritative recommendations.

You will also gain an appreciation for the historic and current cultural, and commercial significance of Sake in Japan and its export markets around the world, including Australia.

There are no pre requisite study for this course, however successful completion of the Level 1 Award in Sake is highly recommended.

​

Upon registration candidates will be required to complete a two-week online pre-study program before attending class-based learning. This program provides baseline knowledge and must be completed before the first course day. Expect to spend up to 14 hours with the online material and up to 25 hours preparation and review over the duration of this course.

WSET Level 3 Award in Sake - Short Format July & August

Class Times: 9:30am - 4:30pm

 

Exam: August 19th
9:30am - 12:30pm

Cost: $1495

(Inclusive of Tasting glasses, Sake, WSET study guides, and examination fee)

The course assessment is split into two essential units: Unit 1 focuses on your theoretical understanding of the subject and your ability to communicate this, while Unit 2 focuses on your tasting abilities. 

Both units are examined in person on the same day, with a short break between the papers.

Assessment

Unit 1 is assessed by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions and a paper of short written answers.
Unit 2 is assessed by a blind tasting of two sakes.

​

Please note that additional charges are applicable for all exam re-sits and non-attendance.

Level 3 full exam resit : $200

Theory exam only resit : $100

Tasting exam only resit : $100

Non-attendance of registered exam : $50

Entry Requirements: You must be of legal drinking age (18) to participate in this course.
Candidates are required to complete a two-week online pre-study programme before attending the course.
