WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Online

Study this highly regarded qualification at home

The Level 2 Award in Wines Online covers the same syllabus as the classroom course, but through a supported Online Classroom. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you will explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

The course is delivered online, and you have five weeks to complete it which means you can work through the course at your own pace. Because we now have the option of remote invigilation, this is perfect for anyone living in regional Australia. Read more about remote invigilation.

A minimum of six hours study per week is recommended to successfully complete the course.

Regular access and participation is essential.

Key Information​

Course Structure:

This is an online course. You will receive tutoring through the course by an approved WSET educator.

​

This online course runs over 5 weeks. The online classroom gives you the ability to study at your own pace, in your own time. WSET educator support is available for 5 weeks. However, the course will remain open for one year from the start date.

​

Wine Samples:

Tasting is an essential part of studying for this course, and you are strongly recommended to taste a minimum of 12 wines during your studies. We can provide these wines for you. The wines are selected specifically to showcase the subjects discussed in the Online course. Some may be half bottles (375ml).

 

Course Overview:

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines will teach you about the fundamentals of the world of wine, covering topics such as:

  • How wine is made;

  • The major white and black grape varieties and the major wine-producing regions in the world;

  • How to read and understand wine labels;

  • How to describe wine (tasting);

  • Pairing food and wine;

  • An introduction to sweet and fortified wines.

Please note that the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines builds on the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines, however you don't need to have completed the WSET Level 1 Award to sit the Level 2 course.

​

Assessment:

The exam is held Online via remote invigilation. Students will sit a closed-book, multiple choice exam consisting of 50 questions. 

Successful completion of the exam will lead to the internationally recognised WSET Level 2 Award in Wines.

​

Entry Requirements:

You must be 18 to participate in this course. There are no other requirements for entry.
