Study this highly regarded qualification at home
The Level 1 Award in Wine Online covers the same syllabus as the classroom course, but through a supported Online Classroom. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you will explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

The course is delivered online, and you have four weeks to complete it which means you can work through the course at your own pace.
​
A minimum of three hours study per week is recommended to successfully complete the course.
Regular access and participation is essential.

Key Information​

Course Structure:
This is an online course. You will receive tutoring through the course by an approved WSET educator.
​
Wine Samples:
Tasting is an essential part of studying for this course, and you are strongly recommended to taste a minimum of 6 wines during your studies.
We can provide these wines for you. The wines are selected specifically to showcase the subjects discussed in the Online course.
Course Overview:
The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines will teach you about the fundamentals of the world of wine, covering topics such as:

How wine is made;

The major white and black grape varieties and the major wine-producing regions in the world;

How to read and understand wine labels;

How to describe wine (tasting);

Pairing food and wine;

An introduction to sweet and fortified wines.

Assessment:
The exam is held Online. Students will sit a closed-book, multiple choice exam consisting of 30 questions.
Successful completion of the exam will lead to the internationally recognised WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

Entry Requirements:
You must be 18 to participate in this course.
You must have a secure internet connection for the remote examination.
There are no other requirements for entry.
No previous experience of wine tasting is necessary to register on this course.
