Melbourne Wine School is proud to offer the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Spirits Online.
​
The WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits is intended to establish the basic skills and product knowledge required in the service and retail of spirits; it is ideal for preparing a person for their first job in hospitality or retail.
​
This course is also a great introductory first course for spirit enthusiasts who wish to study in a structured way. The qualification covers skills such as: identifying spirit styles, categories of spirits and service.
​
The WSET Level 1 online course runs over 4 weeks that can be studied in your own space, at your own pace.
Students will have extended access to the online classroom for one year from registration.

How to describe spirits using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits® (SAT)
Course Structures:
This is an online course.
You will receive tutoring through the course by an approved WSET educator.

Tasting Samples: (optional extra - add $150)
Tasting is an essential part of studying for these courses, and you are strongly recommended to taste a minimum amount of samples during your studies. We can provide the correct samples amounts to save you time and money purchasing full bottles. Our sample pack includes 8 x 50ml spirits samples.

Assessments:
Assessments for these exams are held Online.
You will need to ensure you have read up understand the requirements for an online examination.

There is an exam of 30 multiple-choice questions that will be sat in your own home with remote invigilation. The exam must be completed in 45 minutes.
Successful completion of the exam will lead to the internationally recognised WSET Award.

Entry Requirements:
You must be of legal drinking age (18) to participate in this course.
There are no other requirements for entry.
​
Experience:
No previous experience of spirit tasting is necessary to register on this course.
