A night in California

California has a wonderfully long and rich wine history.
If you mention Californian wine, most people will automatically think of Napa Valley and their big, rich and plush Cabernet Sauvignons, but thankfully it's so much more than that!

Join us for an evening as we explore California is closer detail, and look at their unique range of wines.  We will discover how climate and geographical factors are important in shaping the character of each wine, and not just their famous Napa Valley Cabernets.

We’ll taste through many different American Viticultural Areas including regions such as:

California

Central Valley

Napa Valley

Sonoma County and its sub appellations

Santa Barbera / Monterey

Santa Cruz / Paso Robles

Mendocino and more...

Join Andy as he guides you through a selection of wines from some of California's well known, and lesser known American Viticultural Areas. Drawing from his knowledge, Andy will guide you through as he discusses the reasons why he loves these wines, and just why they're featured in our tastings.

California

Californian wine is wonderfully unique!
In many of the world’s major wine appellations, a region offers just a few types or styles of wine and some regions only allowing a select number of grape varieties. Thankfully, California doesn’t play by the same rules, so here you can find a myriad of grape varieties, spread over vast distances and in a multitude of microclimates, each expressing itself in a different style.

In the most famous areas, you will find big and bold reds made from Cabernet Sauvignon or Zinfandel, or the likes of Pinot Noir in the cooler regions closer to the coast, but if you look closely there are amazing little pockets found throughout California that offer amazing value and diversity in grape varieties such as Albarino and Aligoté in white grapes, and Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo in the reds.

California is no mere one trick pony, there is wonderful diversity of producers and styles and truly worth taking the time to get to know a little better.
